The no-so red carpet was, in Averie’s mind, especially for her. It wasn’t any secret that her favorite color was blue, as her hair demonstrated. There were undoubtedly other reasons for the Blue carpet, but Averie wouldn’t hear of it.
She just had to hope that Baba didn’t make any of the wrong kind of blue carpet jokes, in front of the reporters.
Speaking of the reporters, two or three local newspapers had turned out to ask the competitors some questions, the smattering of bulbs and microphones; an experience she has never had before.
The reporters were quick to ask questions, Averie was happy to answer them. The first was an obvious one, how did she feel about her first tag match? The answer was as easy as the question presented.
“I get to team with the sweetest guy in the whole world and show everyone what we got and how we’re gonna kick butt! How could I be anything but excited for the match?!”
The next was as expected as the first, what were her thoughts on her opponents for the match? Conor cited himself as somewhat an evil figure and Noelle didn’t appear to shy away from playing dirty if required.
“They seem pretty mean, but that’s a lot of wrestlers really isn’t it? It’s not like they have much special about them to be presenting some huuuuuge challenge. You know? Not that they’re not talented, everyone here is talented. There’s just nothing remarkable about them, nothing that makes me sit back and take notice.
It’s easy to be the mean dude, the bully. It’s not so easy to be honest and true. But that’s what we are, we bring an honesty to the ring that most people are afraid to show. I think that’s gonna make ALL the difference this time around.”
After all, it was an unspoken truth, wrestlers seemed to think any form of vulnerability was a weakness, but that wasn’t the case. On the surface, Averie and Baba maybe didn’t have to beat chances in this match; but they trusted each other completely and he always made her smile. If that’s not enough for a good team then what is, really?
Her next question came from a new face, he wanted to know about the whispers surrounding Averie and her team mate, how much about the romance was fact and how would that affect them as partners in the ring? Surprisingly to those watching, her ears flushed just a little. Boys weren’t something she talked all that much about, but this one was something special.
“We’ve been on some dates and I’m not going on any dates that aren’t with Baba sooo, that kinda answers that really doesn’t it? As for hurting us as a team? It’s SO the opposite, we genuinely care about one another and we both want to see the other succeed, we have every reason to work closer and harder.
Really, he’s the best possibly tag partner I could hope for. I know this is gonna be an advantage for us, Noelle and Mayfair might have the grr factor, but we have the awww factor and that’s WAY wayyyyyy better.”
She had time for one more question, since there was one more reporter who was yet to ask one yet... She figured it was only fair that the last question go to him.
What did she hope to see for herself and her future in Cheap Pops Wrestling? Another question that was likely asked of everyone tonight.
“I just wanna entertain and keep doing what I love, obviously I wanna do the things that everyone does I guess.. I wanna see myself holding gold, I wanna step up the things that I’m doing and I guess for right now that’s all of it. Not dreams that are too wild, but dreams I wanna achieve all the same!”
She finished that off with a smile and a thanks for their time, before much else could be said, she was able to spot Baba just a foot or so away from her and spun in a cloud of organza and cow print to head in his direction, pausing only briefly before finally walking away.
“I hope you guys have a whole lotta fun!”
And with that she was off, not much off a run, skip and a jump over towards Baba and greeting him with a hug that caused a second cloud of organza and cow print to engulf her.
